Fuel filters are often forgotten--yet the gasoline, diesel, or biodiesel fuels we put into our vehicles typically contain contaminants such as dirt, rust, scale, and water. Such impurities can plug fuel injectors and carburetors, resulting in serious engine problems. The contaminants often originate from dirty and rusty storage tanks, and as the vehicle ages, from corrosion within the fuel system.

While important for gasoline-fueled engines, fuel filters for diesel engines are especially critical. All diesel fuel contains some water--and removing it is crucial.
